A volatile corrosion inhibitor or VCI will diffuse from the film to the packed metal part. It consists of amines and nitrides (salts) that settle on the metal and thus create an atmosphere that protects from oxygen and water.
Unlike oil or wax layers, the active substance will evaporate after unpacking without residue.
VCI film:
- protects from water and oxygen
- removable without residue
- suitable for metal items that rust easily
VCI films are ideal for packing items that quickly develop rust or verdigris!
